PASTE-UP AND LAYOUT WITH MARY NOBLE ONLINE WORKSHOP

Do your calligraphy justice by understanding how its place on the page makes all the difference to interpreting the words and catching the viewer’s eye. There are many options to obtain a pleasing, balanced composition, and we shall explore those possibilities with lots of short activities to develop our designer’s eye. You won’t have anything finished, but lots of ideas for future works!
List of materials and equipment needed:
A4 layout pad (A3 even better)
2 sheets cartridge A3 if possible
Scissors, masking tape, Pencil, ruler, eraser
Repositionable glue/ removable tape/Spraymount (but we’ll have to spray outside)
Usual calligraphy pens, all sizes
4 Strips black paper for defining margins perhaps 40cm long, 10+ cm wide
Some short quotes to consider
For discussion, a photocopy of a calligraphic design you admire for its composition
